Making Prostrations To 1000 Armed Avalokiteshvara

Tuesday 15th April

Celebrating

Buddha's Enlightenment Day,

the 15th April.

This retreat, which is done in conjunction with Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara practice, is very powerful for purifying negative karma of body, speech, and mind, and for pacifying strong delusions such as desirous attachment and hatred.

This practice involves taking the Mahayana precepts (a promise to avoid all non virtue for 24 hours), conjoined with the practice of prostrations. Through this we deeply improve our mind of compassion.

In order to participate in this retreat, it is necessary to take precepts.

This practice involves taking the eight Mahayana precepts at the beginning of the day and it is customary to abstain from all meals apart from lunch.

We then engage in three sessions combining prostrations with chanted meditation.

Programme

6:30am Mahayana Precepts
7:15 – 8:30am session 1
10 – 11:15am session 2
4 – 5:15pm session 3
6.30pm Offering to the Spiritual Guide Puja
